What began as a single room in Mysore has evolved into a vibrant learning space where dedication, discipline, and tradition come together. Over the years, it has become a home for serious practitioners and aspiring teachers who wish to deepen their understanding of Ashtanga Yoga. Our mission is to preserve and share the authenticity of this practice with genuine respect for its lineage and philosophy, while creating an inclusive environment where students from around the world can learn, grow, and experience the transformative depth of yoga.

    Jai Prakash

    Senior Ashtanga Teacher

    Yogacharya Jaiprakash began his yoga journey at 12 in Mysuru, studying under BNS Iyengar of the Krishnamacharya lineage. With 20+ years of teaching experience, he is a master of Ashtanga Vinyasa, having led 100+ teacher trainings and 150 adjustment workshops worldwide. Known for his insightful, disciplined yet nurturing approach, he guides practitioners through all series with precision and depth.

    Dr. Manjunath

    Senior Ashtanga Teacher

    Dr. T. N. Manjunath, a native of Mysuru, is an Ayurveda physician and a yoga scholar trained at Sri Venkateshwara University. A disciple of Sri Pattabhi Jois, he has been teaching yoga for over 30 years and has trained nearly 3,000 students worldwide. He has represented the Government of India teaching yoga in Mauritius and Uzbekistan, conducted workshops across India, authored articles on yoga and healthcare, contributed to Indian Systems of Medicine, and served as a medical officer at CMC Vellore, teaching yoga in hospitals and correctional institutions.

    Dr. Shashirekha

    Senior Ashtanga Teacher

    Dr. Shashirekha (BAMS, MD–Ayurveda) is a consulting Ayurvedic physician specializing in yoga therapy and constitution-based diet programs for chronic conditions. She currently serves as Head of Preventive Medicine and Yoga at Dhanvantri Ayurvedic Medical College, India. With over 10 years of experience, she conducts specialized courses and workshops on Ayurveda, diet, therapies, and yoga anatomy, and is the author of a book on Yoga Anatomy. She focuses on treating yoga-related musculoskeletal injuries through personalized corrective practices, advocating authentic, safe, and holistic care rooted in Ayurvedic wisdom.

    Senior Ashtanga Teacher

    A Yoga Therapist and Instructor from Andhra Pradesh, he holds a commerce degree, CA-IPCC qualification, and an MSc in Yoga Therapy from SVYASA University, where he was a department topper. Trained at VYASA and Ashtanga Yoga Mysore (RYT-200), he has taught general, therapeutic, and advanced yoga, training hundreds of international instructors and gaining clinical experience at VYASA Aarogyadhama. With 6+ years of experience, he actively conducts workshops, corporate programs, and virtual sessions, and is deeply engaged in karma yoga through free camps, research on yoga and wellbeing, and community service initiatives.

    Dr. Jayaraj

    Dr. Jayaraj is an Ayurvedic physician with an MD in Ayurveda, known for his belief in the healing power of traditional medicine. He has been teaching and practicing diagnostics for over two years at the Ashtanga Yoga Mysore Institute and serves as a Professor in the Kayachikitsa Department. His expertise spans Ashtanga Ayurveda, Panchakarma, Kayachikitsa, yoga anatomy, and yogic diet, integrating classical Ayurvedic principles with practical healing approaches.

    Dr. Shamsunder

    Senior Ashtanga Teacher

    Dr. Shamasundar brings 28 years of experience in teaching and diagnostics to the Ashtanga Yoga Mysore Institute. With qualifications including BSc, MBBS, MS, MISP, FABP (PhD), he specializes in anatomy and physiology, plastination, and pediatric surgery, and currently serves as Dean, Faculty of Biomedical Sciences at JSS Medical College, Mysore. Known for his clear and engaging teaching style, he makes yoga anatomy accessible and easy to understand for practitioners.

    Asha

    Senior Ashtanga Teacher

    Asha is a dedicated yoga teacher in Mysore with over 13 years of practice and experience. She conducts classes in Hatha Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, Corporate Yoga, Pranayama, Mudra, Chakra meditation, chanting, and meditation. Certified in both Hatha Yoga (RYT 200) and Ashtanga Yoga (RYT 200), she also specializes in meditation yoga therapy and has extensive experience leading corporate workshops in pranayama and meditation.

    Sushma

    Senior Ashtanga Teacher

    Introduced to the various forms of yoga 8 years back, Yogacharya Sushma holds a Diploma in Yoga along with Pranayama Certification. She has taught over 50 Teacher Training cohorts at Ashtanga Yoga Mysore. She brings to the institute her knowledge of various forms of yoga including Yoga Nidra, Pranayama & Meditation.

    Sharath

    Senior Ashtanga Teacher

    Sharath brings over 8 years of experience in practicing and teaching Capoeira, supporting students in building strength, balance, and confidence. His sessions are designed to complement asana practice, helping yoga trainees improve balance and control in postures such as handstands. Known as a dedicated and inspiring teacher, his expertise includes Capoeira and the Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary and Intermediate series.

    Sunil Kumar

    Mr. Sunil Kumar is currently employed as the coordinator and program director at Ashtanga Yoga Mysore. Born in Mysore and having spent some years of his life in England as well as other parts of Europe, he brings a mix of values to the study of Yoga, which he propagates through his conception, the Ashtanga Yoga Mysore. To list some of his academic qualifications of Mr. Sunil Kumar includes RYT-200, Masters in Engineering, UK. His unending love for Yoga, Meditation & Philosophy propels him to better the practices at Ashtanga Yoga Mysore.

    For over 15 years, Lakshmi has been an integral part of the Ashtanga Yoga Mysore family, nourishing thousands of practitioners from across the globe. Known for her warmth and dedication, she specializes in authentic, South Indian cuisine that perfectly complements the rigorous demands of a daily yoga practice. Her cooking is frequently described by students as “delicious,” “nutritious,” and “homecooked with love,” making the communal dining experience a highlight of their stay. She understands that every meal supports the student’s journey toward health and inner peace.
