General Questions

Ashtanga Yoga is a traditional, dynamic style of yoga popularized by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore. It involves synchronizing breath with a progressive series of postures (vinyasa) focusing on building strength, flexibility, and mental clarity through disciplined practice.

Anyone with a sincere interest in yoga and basic physical fitness is welcome, but some classes may require prior experience, especially Mysore-style classes.

Beginners can join introductory or led classes, but Mysore style practice is recommended for those with some Ashtanga or Hatha yoga experience due to its self-led format.

Led classes are teacher-led sessions with the whole group moving through the sequence together. Mysore Style classes are self-led with individual pacing, and teachers provide adjustments and guidance.

Class Schedule & Attendance

Classes are held in the early morning and evening, typically 6-9 AM and 4-7 PM, but exact schedules should be confirmed directly.

For Mysore style classes, prior registration or placement may be required due to limited spots. Led classes may allow walk-ins depending on availability.

Classes may be closed or have altered schedules on full moon, new moon days, or Indian festivals.Although this is optional and upto the individual.

Beginners are welcome in led or introductory classes in 200Hrs. Mysore style is best started after guidance and practice.

Registration & Fees

Registration can be done online through the official website or by contacting the shala directly via email or phone.

Fees vary depending on the course length and type. Payments can usually be made via bank transfer, PayPal, UPI payment or cash on arrival for the balance payment.

A deposit of 300USD must be made to secure your seat. Remaining amount can be paid after joining the course on arrival.

We have vacation batches that let you attend a Yoga program for a week(6 days) from 2-22nd day of every month.

Deposit is non refundable, but one change of date is allowed, subjected to availability.

Travel & Accommodation

The nearest international airport is Bangalore International Airport. From Bangalore, you can take a train, bus, or taxi to Mysore (approximately 3-4 hours).
Yes, the shala offers comfortable accommodation options for students, often including vegetarian meals.
Nearby amenities include vegetarian restaurants, grocery stores, Ayurvedic centers, and local markets.

Practice Guidelines & Etiquette

Comfortable, breathable workout attire is recommended to allow free movement.
Students are encouraged to bring their own mats, though mats may be available for rent or use.
Respect for teachers, fellow students, and the sacred practice space is expected. Silence or whispering is usually observed during practice.
Photography or recording is generally not allowed inside the shala without prior permission to maintain concentration and privacy.

Health & Safety

It is recommended to consult with the teachers beforehand; modifications may be provided for those with conditions.

Yes, Mysore is considered a safe city with a welcoming community for international students.

Yes, there are multiple vegetarian and vegan-friendly restaurants and cafes serving wholesome meals.

Many students walk or use auto-rickshaws, taxis, or bicycles to commute.Uber, Ola, Rapido and Namma Yatri are the apps available to book taxis and autos.

Weekends and breaks offer opportunities for local sightseeing and travel beyond Mysore.But students need to be in school back on Monday by 6am.

Additional Information

Yes, successful graduates receive a Yoga Alliance-recognized certification that enables global teaching eligibility.

Family members may visit or stay nearby, but cannot use the accommodation.

There are assessments for every topic during the course.
